Terms of Service

Last updated: 30 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Doug Shum (ABN 68 992 572 301), Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, for the use of PracticeTwin at practicetwin.app. Using the service means you accept them. Contact: hello@practicetwin.app.

中文摘要

1. What the service is

PracticeTwin turns a music teacher's weekly goal into six daily practice tasks, collects the student's self-rating and optional recording, drafts a reply for the teacher to approve, and sends a weekly summary to the parent. It is an accountability and communication tool. It does not assess playing, does not grade, and does not replace a lesson.

2. Who the customer is

The teacher is the account holder and the paying customer. Students and parents use the service for free through links the teacher creates; they have no account and no contract with us. The teacher is responsible for what they put into the service about their students.

3. Your account

4. Student links

Each student link contains an unguessable token which is that student's identity. Treat it like a password: give it to the student and their parent, and do not publish it. If a link is shared further than intended, delete that student and add them again to issue a new one.

5. Permission for students under 13

Before you add a student, and before you enter a parent's email address, you confirm that you have the permission you need from that student's parent or guardian. We rely on you for this; we have no relationship with the family.

6. The AI drafts are drafts

Replies and task plans are generated by a language model and may be wrong, generic, or unsuitable. Nothing reaches a student until you approve it. If you switch on auto-approve for a student, you are choosing to let drafts go out unread and you remain responsible for them. We make no warranty about the quality or correctness of generated text.

7. Price, billing and cancellation

8. What happens when a trial or subscription ends

Student pages stay open and students keep submitting — we do not punish a student for a teacher's billing decision. Your console becomes read-only: all records remain visible and exportable by you, but new weekly plans and new approvals pause until you subscribe again. Data is retained for at least 90 days after a subscription ends, so an account can be restarted without loss.

9. Your content

Goals, tasks, replies, student details and recordings are yours and your students'. You give us only the licence needed to store, process and display them in order to run the service for you — including sending the text described in the privacy policy to the Claude API. We do not sell your content, show it to other teachers, or use it to train AI models.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to use PracticeTwin to:

We may suspend an account that does any of these, and will tell you why.

11. Referrals

A teacher may give another teacher their referral code. When a new teacher redeems it, both accounts get 30 extra trial days. A code cannot be redeemed by its own owner, and each account may redeem one code, once. We may withdraw the programme at any time; days already granted are kept.

12. Availability

We aim to keep PracticeTwin running, but it is provided "as is" with no uptime guarantee. Scheduled jobs — the daily reminder and the Sunday report — depend on third-party services and may be delayed or missed.

13. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Subject to that, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost students or lost income.

14. Ending the agreement

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may end the agreement with 30 days' notice, or immediately for a breach of section 10; if we do so without cause we refund the unused part of your period.

15. Changes to these terms

We will email account holders before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the new terms.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Queensland, Australia, and the courts of Queensland have non-exclusive jurisdiction. Where a translated summary differs from the English text, the English text governs.
